CARE AND MAINTENANCE
l Carefully install the spark plug finger tight, then tighten
as additional 3/8 to 1/2 turn with the spark plug wrench.
l Attach the spark plug boot.
SPARK ARRESTOR SERVICE
See Figures 22 - 23.
Allow the muffler to cool completely before servicing the
spark arrestor. Check and clean the spark arrestor after
every 100 hours of use or every season. Failure to clean the
spark arrestor will result in degraded engine performance.
l Place the pressure washer on a level surface.
l Carefully remove the carbon deposits from the spark ar-
restor screen with a wire brush. The spark arrestor must
be free of breaks and tears. Replace the spark arrestor
if damaged.
DRAINING THE FLOAT BOWL
See Figure 24.
l Turn the fuel tank valve to the OFF position.
l Locate the drain screw on the bottom of the carburetor
float bowl.
l Place an appropriate gasoline container under the drain
screw to catch the drained fuel.
l Loosen the float bowl drain screw and allow the fuel to
drain. Tighten the float bowl drain screw.
DRAINING THE FUEL TANK
See Figure 25.
If storing the pressure washer for longer than six months,
drain the fuel tank to prevent fuel separation, deterioration,
and deposits in the fuel system.
l Drain the float bowl.
l Unscrew the fuel tank cap. Remove the fuel screen filter
by slightly compressing it while removing it from the tank.
l Using a commercially available gasoline hand pump (not
included), siphon the gasoline from the fuel tank into an
approved gasoline container. DO NOT use an electric
pump.
l Reinstall the fuel screen filter and the fuel tank cap.
l Remove the spark plug.
l Put a teaspoon of engine oil into the cylinder and pull the
recoil handle until resistance is felt. At this position the
piston is coming up on its compression stroke and both
valves are closed. Storing the engine in this position will
help prevent internal corrosion. Return the recoil handle
gently.
l Reinstall the spark plug. Leave the spark plug boot dis-
connected to prevent accidental starting.
VALVE CLEARANCE
See Figures 26 - 27.
NOTICE
Checking and adjusting valve clear-
ance must be done when the engine is cold.
