The Invia Wound Therapy was verified only in combination with the individual components listed
below within the scope of the conformity evaluation. Medela can only guarantee the orderly and
safe performance of the system with these components. Dressing materials, wound contact
layers and foam dressings from other manufacturers are compatible with the Vario 18 AC/DC
c/i, if their performance characteristics correspond to those of the Medela products.
Use the Vario 18 AC/DC c/i only with Medela replacement parts. Only then is a correct
and safe operation guaranteed.
Overflow/Bacteria protection: The Invia Wound Therapy comes equipped with five (5) over-
flow protection/ bacteria filters and one (1) silicone tubing with one (1) straight and one (1) 90°
coupling. Filter must be changed on a regular basis. To test the efficacy of the filter, see Filter
test – page 7.
Vacuum and Drainage Management: Three vacuum and drainage management options are
available for use with the Invia Wound Therapy.
Option 1) Invia Wound Therapy disposable canister with white lid available with and without
solidifier. When canister is full, lid and canister must be discarded in accordance with facility
requirements and replaced with new ones.
Option 2) Medela reusable canister with disposable bag: Disposable bags with and without
solidifiers are available for use with reusable system. When full, bag must be disposed of accor-
ding to facility requirements.
Option 3) Medela reusable canister: Sterilizable without bag. When canister is full, materials
must be discarded in accordance with facility requirements and canister must be sterilized.
