In the application area of medical suction devices, the vacuum is normally quoted as the diffe-
rence (in absolute figures) between the absolute pressure and the atmospheric pressure or as
negative values in kilopascals (kPa). The indication, e.g. of -10 kPa, in this document therefore
always refers to a pressure level in kPa below the ambient atmospheric pressure.

• Use equipment only under supervision of qualified medical personnel.
• Service Vario after each patient for safe and effective use. Service procedures can
be found on page 6.
• QuatroFlex Lifetime Rating: 4000 hours
• A device to determine pump usage hours is available from Medela.
• In case of excessive noise, consider replacing QuatroFlex.
• Vario Lifetime Rating: 2 years
• Contact your equipment supplier with any questions.

1. Check general condition of the device
• Is the overflow protection / bacteria filter present and
inserted correctly?
