switched off. Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area where
the engine is refuelled or where petrol is stored.
• Do not overfill the fuel tank (there should be no fuel in the filler neck).
After refuelling, make sure the tank cap is properly and securely closed.
Take care not to spill fuel when refuelling. Spilled fuel or fuel vapour can
catch fire. If fuel is spilled, make sure the area is dry before starting the
engine.
• Avoid repeated or prolonged contact of the fuel with the skin or
inhalation of vapours.
CAUTION: KEEP FUEL OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
• Use petrol with an octane number of 86 or higher.
• We recommend unleaded petrol because it produces fewer deposits
in the engine and on the spark plugs and extends the life of the
exhaust system.
• Never use stale or contaminated petrol or a mixture of oil and petrol.
Avoid getting dirt or water into the fuel tank.
• Occasionally, a slight 'spark knock' or 'pinging' (a metallic sound
reminiscent of rapping) can be heard.
• when operating under a heavy load. This is not a cause for concern.
• If knocking sparks or pinging occurs at constant engine speed,
under normal load, change the brand of petrol. If the knocking or
pinging sparks persist, contact an authorised generator dealer.
GNERATOR INSPECTIONS
• Proper maintenance is essential for safe, economical and trouble-
free operation. It will also help to reduce air pollution.
• The exhaust gas contains poisonous carbon monoxide. Switch off
the engine before carrying out any maintenance. If the engine must
be run, make sure the area is well ventilated.
• Periodic maintenance and adjustment is necessary to keep the
generator in good working condition. Service and inspection should
be carried out at the intervals shown in the maintenance schedule
below.
• The generator should be serviced more frequently if used in dusty
areas.
• The generator should be serviced by the dealer, or an authorised
service centre.
• For professional or commercial applications, operating hours should
be recorded to determine the correct maintenance frequency.

CAUTION! Failure to perform maintenance correctly or to rectify a
problem before operation may result in a malfunction that could
seriously injure or kill the user.
Always follow the inspection and maintenance recommendations
and schedules in this operating manual.
The maintenance schedule applies to normal operating conditions. If the
generator is operated under severe conditions, such as continuous
operation under heavy loads or high temperatures, or if it is used in
extremely wet or dusty conditions, consult your service dealer for
recommendations applicable to your individual needs and use.
AIR FILTER SERVICE
A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburettor. To prevent
carburettor failure, the air filter must be serviced regularly. Service

CAUTION: Using petrol or flammable solvent to clean the filter
element may cause a fire or explosion. Use only soap, water or a non-
flammable solvent.
CAUTION: Never run the generator without an air filter. This will
cause rapid engine wear.
Filter replacement or cleaning
1. detach the clips of the air filter cover, remove the air cleaner cover, and
remove the element.
2 Wash the component in warm water with detergent, then rinse
thoroughly; or wash in a non-flammable solvent or one with a high flash
point. Allow the component to dry thoroughly.
3. soak the filter in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess. The
engine will smoke on first start-up if too much oil remains in the filter.
4 Reinstall the air cleaner element and cover.
SPARK PLUG SERVICE
NOTE: Recommended spark plugs: F5T or F6TC or F7TJC or
equivalent.
To ensure proper engine operation, the spark plug must be properly
slotted and free of deposits.
CAUTION: If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very
hot. Be careful not to touch the muffler.
1. Remove the spark plug cover.
2. Clean any debris from around the spark plug base.
3. use the spanner provided in the tool kit to remove the spark plug.
4 Visually inspect the spark plug. Discard it if the insulator is cracked or
chipped. If the spark plug is to be reused, clean it with a wire brush.
5 Measure the spark plug gap with a gap gauge. Correct if necessary by
carefully adjusting the distance of the side electrode.
6 Check that the spark plug washer is in good condition and manually
screw in the spark plug to prevent cross-threading.
7 After seating the spark plug, tighten with a spark plug spanner to
compress the washer.
The gap should be: 0.70-0.80 mm (0.026-0.031 in).
If installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2 turn after seating the spark plug
to compress the washer. If reinstalling a used spark plug, tighten 1/8 - 1/4
turn after seating the spark plug to compress the washer.
The spark plug must be securely tightened. An incorrectly tightened spark
plug can get very hot and can damage the engine. Never use spark plugs
