ENGINE PACKAGING AND STORAGE
For packaging, refer to the instruction in section "Packaging and transport" on page 20.
For a proper engine storage, contact a workshop authorised by VM MOTORI FCA ITALY.
ENGINE STORAGE
VM MOTORI FCA ITALY delivers the
engine with a protection treatment which is
valid for 12 months from the delivery date.
The correct management of the
engine storage time is governed by
the warranty conditions applied to the
engine.
RECOMMISSIONING AFTER AN ENGINE STORAGE PERIOD
- Check that there is no damage to the
external engine components; remedy the
non-compliance, if necessary.
- Remove and thoroughly clean any for-
eign material deposits on engine compo-
nents.
- Clean the throats of the metal belt pul-
leys, using a suitable solvent. Install the
service belts.
- Check the integrity of rubber hoses and
sleeves and the tightening of the relevant
clips; replace the damaged parts.
- The surfaces and components protected
with "FL MECAFLUID / P118 V" protective
oil can be cleaned with a suitable solvent.
- Check the fluid levels: fuel (see page
27), DEF fluid (see page 37-39), engine oil
(see page 53.), coolant (see page 62).

- All packaging components of engine
storage must be disposed of in accordance
with the legislation in force in the country
where disposal takes place.
IMPORTANT
If necessary, contact the manufacturer
of the vehicle in which the engine is
installed or a workshop authorised by
VM MOTORI FCA ITALY.
IMPORTANT
Do not dump any polluting material
in the environment. Carry out their
disposal in compliance with the
relevant legislation in force.
