CAUTION
CAUTION
The pipe cleaning spiral can whiplash if the distance between the end of the
pipe/drain and the thrust gear (12) is too great (danger of injury)!
NOTICE
NOTICE
Only push the pipe cleaning spiral into the pipe to an extent that at least two
windings remain in the spiral drum (10) when cleaning. If the pipe cleaning
spiral is pushed further, the motor can no longer retract the spiral. The pipe
cleaning spiral then has to be pushed back into the spiral drum (10) about 2
windings by hand. Then the automatic return starts working again.
The club head (6) formed on the pipe cleaning spiral may never be allowed to
get into the thrust gear (12) because otherwise the pipe cleaning spiral will be
damaged.
3.3. Operation REMS Mini-Cobra
Pull the pipe cleaning spiral approx. 300 mm out of the spiral drum (10), tighten
the chuck (5) by hand and insert the spiral into the pipe to be cleaned. Hold
the handle (7) tight and turn the spiral drum (10) clockwise by turning the crank
(8) with your other hand. Only insert the pipe cleaning spiral into the pipe to an
extent that the chuck (5) can still be operated by hand. Open the chuck (5) and
pull the pipe cleaning spiral about 300 mm back out of the spiral drum (10).
Repeat the process until you can feel a resistance or the blockage is cleared.
Pull back the pipe cleaning spiral by hand and push it back into the spiral drum.
3.4. Operation of REMS Mini-Cobra with a suitable electric drill/electric screw-
driver
If an electric drill/electric screwdriver is used to drive the REMS Mini Cobra,
make sure that this is equipped with a continuous electronic speed control
≤ 300 rpm. Remove the crank (8). Connect the electric drill/screwdriver with
drill chuck to the hexagonal driver (9).
WARNING
WARNING
Wear a suitable guide glove!
CAUTION
CAUTION
Do not use an electric drill/screwdriver with quick stop! If the drive unit is
shut down immediately, the vibration torque of the still moving spiral drum (10)
can knock over the unit.
Pull the pipe cleaning spiral about 300 mm out of the spiral drum (10), tighten
the chuck (5) by hand. Always start the electric drill screwdriver at low speed
in right right hand rotation and increase the speed as required. Only insert the
pipe cleaning spiral into the pipe to an extent that the chuck (5) can still be
operated by hand. Switch off the electric drill/screwdriver. Open the chuck (5)
and pull the pipe cleaning spiral about 300 mm back out of the spiral drum (10).
Repeat the process until you can feel a resistance or the blockage is cleared.
Keep a maximum distance of 200 mm between the end of the pipe/drain and
the chuck (5) otherwise the pipe cleaning spiral can loop. Always pull back the
pipe cleaning spiral by hand and push it back into the spiral drum. Only use
anticlockwise rotation of the electric drill/screwdriver if the pipe cleaning spiral
is jammed in the pipe. Switch the electric drill/screwdriver carefully between
clockwise and anticlockwise rotation to remedy this.
5. Faults
REMS Mini-Cobra S, REMS Mini-Cobra S 22 V VE
5.1. Fault: Power tool does not start.
Cause:
● Worn carbon brushes (REMS Mini-Cobra S).
● Mains lead defective.
● Electric pipe cleaning machine defective.
5.2. Fault: Drive unit stops during operation.
Cause:
● Drive unit overheated or overloaded
● Battery fl at or defective (REMS Mini-Cobra S 22 V VE)
● Defective drive unit

3.5. Machine Status Check with Battery Low Discharge Protection
REMS Mini-Cobra S 22 V VE is equipped with high current overload protec-
tion with charging status indicator. The charging status is displayed by the
LED work light (15) The LED work light fl ashes when the battery needs
recharging, the battery is defective or the drive unit has cut-out due to over-
voltage. If this status occurs during work, the work procedure must be
completed with a charged Li-Ion battery.
3.6. Graduated charging status indicator (14) of the battery
The graduated charging state indicator shows the charging state of the battery
with 4 LEDs. At least one LED lights for a few seconds after pressing the
key with the battery symbol. The more LEDs that light green, the higher the
charging state of the battery. If a LED fl ashes red, the battery must be
recharged.
4. Maintenance
Notwithstanding the maintenance described below, it is recommended to have
the electric pipe cleaning device and accessories (e.g. Batteries, rapid chargers,
power supply units) sent to an authorised REMS contract service workshop at
least once a year for inspection and periodic checking of electrical devices. In
Germany, such periodic testing of electrical devices should be performed in
accordance with DIN VDE 0701-0702 and also prescribed for mobile electrical
equipment according to the accident prevention rules DGUV, regulation 3
"Electrical Systems and Equipment". In addition, the respective national safety
provisions, rules and regulations valid for the application site must be considered
and observed.
4.1. Maintenance
WARNING
WARNING
Pull out the mains plug before maintenance work!
Clean the electric pipe cleaning machine and the pipe cleaning spiral regularly
especially when they have not been in use for a long time. Clean plastic parts
(e.g. housing) only with REMS CleanM machine cleaner (Art. No. 140119) or
a mild soap and a damp cloth. Do not use household cleaners. These often
contain chemicals which can damage the plastic parts. Never use petrol,
turpentine, thinner or similar products for cleaning.
Make sure that liquids never get onto or inside the electric pipe cleaning machine.
Never immerse the electric pipe cleaning machine in liquid.
4.2. Inspection/Repair
REMS Mini-Cobra S, REMS Mini-Cobra S 22 V VE
WARNING
WARNING
Pull out the mains plug before maintenance and repair work! This work
may only be performed by qualifi ed personnel.
The gear runs in a life-long grease fi lling and therefore needs no lubrication.
The motor of the REMS Mini-Cobra S drive unit has carbon brushes. These
are subject to wear and must therefore by checked and changed by qualifi ed
specialists or an authorised REMS customer service workshop from time to
time.
Remedy:
● Have carbon brushes changed by qualifi ed technical personnel or an
authorised REMS customer service workshop.
● Have the connecting cable changed by qualifi ed technical personnel or an
authorised REMS customer service workshop.
● Have the electric pipe cleaning machine inspected/repaired by an authorised
REMS customer service workshop.
Remedy:
● Let the drive unit cool down or the drive unit is unsuitable for the work to be
carried out.
● Charge battery with rapid charger or change battery.
● Have the drive unit inspected/repaired by an authorised REMS customer
service workshop.
