PR53 product overview
The PR53 inline refractometer is an instrument for measuring liquid concentration in the
process line. The measurement is based on the refraction of light in the process medium, an
accurate and safe way of measuring liquid concentration.

The inline process refractometer (1) measures the refractive index RI and the temperature of
the process medium. This information is sent through the interconnecting cable (2) to the
Indigo520 transmitter (3, optional). The refractometer calculates the concentration of the
process liquid based on the refractive index and temperature, taking predefined process
conditions into account. The output of the refractometer or optional transmitter is a 4 to
20 mA DC output signal proportional to process solution concentration. Process data can also
be downloaded to a computer with the Insight software with a USB2 cable.
