3 Operation display
When the POWER switch is set to ON, the operation
mode or setting status appears.

4 POWER switch (41, 47)
Turns the power to the camera ON or OFF.
5 Zoom lever (66)
Adjusts the framing of the picture. For identification
portraits, the size of a face on a photograph is
designated in most cases. The zoom function allows
you to adjust the size of the face without moving the
camera position. This feature allows smooth shooting,
minimizing the time the subject must sit without
moving. The maximum magnification is 1.3 times.
T: For a telephoto picture
W: For a wide picture
6 PLAY/CAMERA switch (41, 47, 49, 52)
Use this switch to toggle between playback and
recording modes.
CAMERA: Set the switch at this position to
photograph a subject. The standby lamp lights or
blinks in green.
PLAY: Set the switch at this position to view the
photographed images. The time required to switch
from CAMERA mode to PLAY mode depends on
the H/S condition (S/Hi-2/Hi-1) of the recorded
pictures.
7 Liquid-crystal display (LCD)
When the LCD MONITOR switch is set to ON, and
when the PLAY/CAMERA switch is set to CAMERA,
the scene picked up by the lens appears.
When the PLAY/CAMERA switch is set to PLAY, the
picture stored in memory appears independent of the

When the camera is connected to the station, no
picture is displayed during communication between
the camera and station.
When you press MODE of the mode button, the mode
screen appears.

8 LCD MONITOR switch (41, 45)
For turning the LCD ON or OFF when the PLAY/
CAMERA switch is set to CAMERA. It is
recommended that you set this switch to ON when you
do not use a viewfinder.
9 Battery compartment lid (19)
Insert the lithium ion batteries (large and small,
supplied), and close the lid.
0 Mode button (24, 47, 49, 52)
Lightly press the MODE, SET, b or B side of the
button, and the following action is obtained.
MODE: Each time you press this side, the mode
displayed on the LCD changes cyclically.
When the PLAY/CAMERA switch is set to
PLAY, it changes as follows: no indication t
MULTI (multiple screen) t PROTECT t
ERASE t SET UP.
When no picture is recorded, the display only
toggles between no display and SET UP.
When the PLAY/CAMERA switch is set to
CAMERA, it changes as follows: no indication
t AUTO/MAN t EXPOSURE t
APERTURE t WHITE BALANCE.
