Adjusting the Recording Level

When the REC LEVEL switch is set to the
MANU position
Adjust the recording level referring to the peak
level meter in step 6 on page 36.
Adjust the REC VOL contro! so that the peak level
meter does not reach the OVER position. If the
peak level meter reaches OVER, the recorded
sound is distorted.
¢ You can also adjust the recording level referring
to the margin display (see page 42) instead of
the peak level meter.
¢ When the REC LEVEL switch is set to "AUTO",
the unit automatically adjusts the recording level.
In this case, the REC VOL control is not oper-
able.
When recording with a microphone
Select the INPUT switch position referring to the
peak level meter. If the sound is distorted even if
the recording level is lowered with the REC VOL.
control, set the INPUT switch to MIC 2 to activate
the 20 dB attenuator circuit. When recording quiet
sound with a microphone, lower the recording level
and piace the microphone closer to the sound
source. Recording with less noise is possible in
such a way.
