2. Definitions and pictograms
2.1. Definitions
"System": This refers in this manual to the fall
arresters or winches which are attached to a
Tracpode PRO bracket.
"Accessory": The sets consisting of a system
and a bracket for the Tracpode PRO are
described as accessories in this manual
"Supervisor": The individual or department
responsible for the management and safe use of
the product described in the manual.
"Technician": Person who has been trained by
Tractel to carry out the maintenance operations
specified in the Annual Safety Inspection &
maintenance manual, in order to ensure safety
and efficiency of this product.
"Operator": Person
using
accordance with its intended purpose.

"End of service life date": Refers to the point in
time after which a system or component should
be replaced and disposed off.
"Competent person": A person who has the
appropriate knowledge, training, and experience
to carry out the Annual Safety Inspection in
accordance with Tractel instructions and local
regulations.
"Daily care": Regular attention and care to the
product to ensure it is functioning properly and
efficiently. This includes cleaning, lubricating,
inspecting and careful handling.
"Annual Safety Inspection (ASI)": Aimed to
identify any defects, damage, or wear that could
compromise the effectiveness of the product and
potentially put employees at risk. The ASI must
be done at least every 12 months and can only
be performed by a competent person.
"Maintenance": The aim is to ensure that the
product is safe, effective, and reliable, and that
it continues to provide the necessary protection
to the operator. It is performed after a failed
ASI and can only be performed by a technician
according to the Tractel maintenance manual of
this product.
"PPE": Personal protective equipment against
falls from height.
"Connector": The
element
components of a fall-arrest system. It is
EN 362-compliant.
"Full body harness": The device worn around
the body for fall protection. It consists of
straps and buckles. It features fall protection
attachment points marked with an A if they may
be used alone, or marked with A/2 if they are to
be used in combination with another A/2 point. It
is EN 361-compliant.
"Self-retracting fall protection system": The
fall-arrest device with an automatic locking
function and a self-tensioning and retraction
system for the self-retracting lanyard.
"Self-retracting
lanyard": The
element of a self-retracting fall protection system.
It may be made of a metal cable, strapping or
synthetic fibre depending on the type of device.
