FITTING THE BLADE
See Figures 13, 14, 15 and 16.
DANGER: The saw takes blades up to 210 mm. Never use a blade that is so thick that the outer blade clamping
plate does not engage on the flat on the arbor. Larger blades will hit the blade guard, while thicker blades will
prevent the blade clamping screw from clamping the blade to the arbor. In either case, there may be an accident
causing serious personal injury.
•
Remove the battery pack from the saw.
WARNING: Failure to remove the battery pack from the saw could result in the saw starting accidentally and cause
serious personal injury.
•
Push down on the saw arm and pull out the locking pin to release the saw arm. Raise the saw arm until it is fully up.
Take care as the saw arm is sprung and rises automatically.
•
Loosen the cross point screw on the cover over the blade clamping bolt until the cover can be raised. See Figure 13.
•
Gently raise the lower blade guard mounting, releasing the lower blade guard from its groove so that the lower blade
guard and blade clamping bolt cover can be rotated to access the blade clamping bolt. See Figure 14.
•
Press the arbor lock button in and rotate the blade bolt until the arbor locks. See Figure 16.
•
Using the blade spanner provided, unscrew and remove the blade clamping bolt.
NOTE: The blade clamping bolt is left hand threaded. Turn the blade clamping bolt clockwise to remove it.
•
Remove the outer blade clamping plate. Do not remove the inner blade clamping plate.
•
Put a drop of oil onto the inner and outer blade clamping plates where they touch the blade.
WARNING: If the inner blade clamping plate has been removed, replace it before fitting the blade to the arbor.
If the inner clamping plate is missing, the blade cannot be clamped, which may cause an accident.
•
Put the saw blade inside the blade guard and fit it to the arbor. The teeth on the blade should point downwards at the
front of the saw as shown in figure 15.
CAUTION: Always fit the blade with the blade teeth and the arrow printed on the side of the blade pointing down
at the front of the saw. The direction of rotation of the blade is also marked by an arrow on the upper blade guard.
•
Put the outer blade clamping plate onto the arbor. The flats on the blade clamping plates engage with the flat on
the arbor.
•
Press the arbor lock button in and replace the blade clamping bolt.
NOTE: The blade clamping bolt is left hand threaded. Turn the blade clamping bolt anticlockwise to tighten.
•
Using the blade spanner provided, tighten the blade clamping bolt.
•
Remove the blade spanner and keep it in a safe place for the next time.
•
Replace the lower blade guard and blade clamping bolt cover.
•
Retighten the cross point screw to secure the blade clamping bolt cover. Tighten the screw. See Figure 15.
WARNING: To prevent damage to the arbor lock, always allow the motor to stop completely before engaging the
arbor lock. Make sure the arbor lock button is not engaged before attaching the battery pack.
