Troubleshooting
Fault
Spindle and spindle nut move
stiffly
Clamping force does not accumula-
te or insufficient clamping force
Spindle can no longer be turned
Clamping force can not be released
Grip clamping element broken
Grip spikes are
compressed flat
Possible causes
Spindle thread or sliding surfaces
soiled by chips or corroded
a) Minimum clamping width reached
b) Workpiece clamped too far out of
centre
c) Grip spikes twisted
d) Grip spikes sometimes prevent pivot
motion of moving jaw
e) Clutch disengages too early
f) Power intensifier not or only "parti-
ally" operative
g) The clutch can not be felt to re-
engage after releasing the clamping
force
h) A Grip clamping element is broken
Screws used to secure moving jaw are
too long
Power intensifier defective
a) Tightening torque of 30 Nm
exceeded
b) Machining forces too high
Workpiece > 1000 N/mm
possibly flame cuts from C 45
Remedy
Disassemble, clean and
oil the ALLMATIC TITAN
See page 10
Align Grip spikes with the surface of
the workpiece
Align pivot jaw by hand before
clamping
Check ease of movement of spindle
and spindle nut – remove corrosion
if necessary or if clutch mechanism
is worn

Turn spindle anticlockwise (left) to
re-engage – Fit new rubber scraper
Tightening torque of 30 Nm ex-
ceeded – machining forces too high
Replace
Use correct screw length
Unscrew pressure plate from bottom
section
