5.3 AIR FILTER MAINTENANCE
es
he
If the air filter is dirty, the quantity of air reaching
the carburettor will drop. To prevent the carburettor
from malfunctioning, run regular maintenance tests
on the air filter. If the pump is running in a very dirty
an
environment, repeat these tests more frequently. Do
ed
not clean the air filter with a solvent as this can result
he
in combustion or an explosion.
ed
he
WARNING: Do not run the engine without an air
ng
filter to avoid the risk of breakdown caused by
he
intake of dust or dirt.
1- Remove the cover screws.
2- Remove the cover then the adjoining parts.
se
3- Clean the different components with a non
flammable solution and let them dry properly after
ed
cleaning.
mp
4- Soak the filtering components in clean oil and
of
squeeze them to remove excess fluid.
de
5- Replace the filter and the adjacent parts and
replace the screws.

1- Stop the engine.
2- Remove the protection from the plug I.1.
3- Unscrew the plug with a spark plug spanner C.1
(FIG.C).
4- Inspect the spark plug for any possible cracks or
faults. Clean the spark plug with a brush and put
it back in place.
5- Check gap using a feeler gauge. Vary the gap by
moving the side electrodes. The correct gap is
0.70-0.80 mm.
6- Check that the ring above the spark plug is in
good condition. Screw it down using the spark
plug spanner to protect the stopper.
Comment: If you have to install a new spark plug,
turn it halfway until the spark plug is aligned with the
ring to get the right pressure. If the plugs are worn,
make only a quarter turn.
WARNING: Check that the spark plug is correctly
screwed in. If not, the engine might overheat.
Never use spark plugs with an inappropriate heat
range.
5.5 IDLE ADJUSTMENT - SEE FIG.J
To adjust idling:
1- Start up the engine outside and warm it up.
2- Put the throttle in the slowest position.
3- Turn the idle adjustment screw J.1 to get the
optimum speed.
Standard speed: 1400 +/- 150 rpm.
