Coloring the sound of vocals or instruments
The sound of vocals and instruments can be colored at
will by operating the controls. For instance, when the
400 Hz, 1 kHz and 2.4 kHz controls are raised and the
other controls lowered, people's voices sound as if heard
on a telephone.
Preventing howl during mixing play
Any irritating howl during play can be prevented by lower-
ing the knob corresponding to the frequency band in which
the howl occurs.
Noise can be reduced during recording and play-
back
When the high-range controls are boosted in step fashion
during recording and then lowered in reverse fashion dur-
ing playback, tape hiss and other high-range noise can be
reduced.
Creating recorded tapes most compatible with
the playback equipment
A sound with a greater "punch" can be recorded for play-
back on car stereo equipment if the ultra-low-range, which
is hard to hear, is cut out and the mid-range is boosted.

En agissant sur les commandes de l'appareil, vous pouvez
apporter une forte coloration aux sons émis par les instru-
ments et les chanteurs. Si, par exemple, vous augmentez
le niveau dans les bandes 400 Hz, 1 kHz et 2,4 kHz, et, au
contraire, l'atténuez dans les autres bandes, les voix vous
sembleront émises par un téléphone.
Eviter l'effet Larsen au cours d'un mélange au
micro
L'effet Larsen (hurlement) peut être évité en abaissant la
commande correspondant à la bande de fréquence dans
laquelle se produit le hurlement.
Réduire le bruit au cours de l'enregistrement ou
de la lecture
Le bruit et le sifflement de bande peuvent être réduits par
accentuation des aigus lors de l'enregistrement puis
atténuation des mêmes aigus lors de la lecture.
Obtenir des enregistrements aussi adaptés que
possible à l'appareil de lecture
Des sonorités puissantes peuvent être enregistrées en
vue de leur lecture dans une voiture, en supprimant les
fréquences très graves qui sont difficilement audibles, et
en accentuant les fréquences du médium.
