Magnetizing a tire
4. Drive your car forward about 1 meter.
Drive forward until section q of the tire for magnetizing is at the top.
5. Stop the car and apply the hand brake.
For safety, switch the engine off and chock the tire.
6. Rub section q of the tire with side q of the magnet.
As in step 3, rub just the surface of section q of the tire with side q of the magnet. (This
magnetizes section q of the tire.)
• Make sure the borders of the magnetized and demagnetized sections of the tire meet as
near as possible at right angles (in a straight line) across the tire.
This completes magnetization.
Note:
• When replacing the magnetized tire with a new one, magnetize the new tire. Also, if you use differ-
ent tires in the summer and winter, be sure to magnetize both of them.
• Depending on road conditions, a tire's magnetism may weaken. If you suspect that error's for the
location displays are increasing, magnetize the tire once more.
• To improve the precision of the location display, it is recommended that you magnetize the tire
again about once a year.
