Installing the sensor unit
Selecting the installation location
Before installing and securing the sensor unit, perform the following steps and select the
installation location.
1. Temporarily install the sensor unit.
Check both sides of the sensor unit and install correctly. (Secure the unit with tape to
assure it does not move.)
2. Switch power to the navigation unit ON.
Switch on the car engine, and then switch power to the navigation unit ON. (Keep the car
stationary.)
3. While the car is stationary, confirm that no car speed pulse is being output.
While the car is stationary, look at the monitor display to confirm that no car speed pulse is
being output. (Confirm that current location mark in the monitor display does not move.
Refer to the navigation unit operation manual.)
Also confirm that no car speed pulse is being output by performing the following steps.
• Switch on electrical devices such as the windshield wipers, air conditioner and turn sig-
nals.
• Rev the engine.
• If the sensor unit is located near a component such as a multi-CD player or subwoofer,
play music at your usual listening volume level.
If a car speed pulse is output:
• If the sensor unit picks up noise, even when the car is stationary, a car speed pulse may be output,
and current location mark in the monitor display may move. If this happens, try changing the loca-
tion of the sensor unit slightly.
4. Set the sensor unit's output switch to the SET UP position.
If you set the switch to the SET UP position, the sensor's sensitivity is reduced. Install the
sensor unit so that it operates correctly even with reduced sensitivity.
