3. Rub the tire with side w of the magnet.
Perform this step first. Demagnetize section w of the tire.
Note:
• When performing this step, the space between the tire and body on some cars is very small, making
it hard to rub the tire with the magnet. If this is the case, raise the wheel off the ground with a jack
and then rub with the magnet.
Rub the tire from edge to edge with side w of the magnet.
• Demagnetize the tire by rubbing the entire surface of section w of the tire.
• Rub as much of section q of the tire as possible to magnetize it. (It is not necessary to
rub the part of the tire touching the ground.)
Examples of how to rub the tire:
With side w of the magnet, rub back and forth once or twice on the surface of the tire. It
doesn't matter how you rub the tire, but make sure there are no parts of the tire surface that
are left unrubbed.
• Rub the tire as though you are painting it, leaving no part unrubbed.
