Qualified personnel

Installation, operation and maintenance of the filter system is only to be carried out by trained
persons and skilled personnel.
Trained persons

Have been trained regarding the tasks assigned to them and the potential hazards
resulting from improper operation.
Skilled personnel

Are capable, by virtue of their technical training, knowledge and experience, as well as
their knowledge of the relevant provisions, to operate and maintain the filter system.
5.3

Procedure after breaks in operation

In the event of prolonged breaks in operation, close the check valve in the filter system intake.

After a break in operation exceeding two days (weekend, holiday, etc.), the filter system

must be flushed with 4–5 litres of water before being reused.
After a shutdown of 4 weeks or more, the filter cartridge must be replaced by a new one.

5.4

Replacement intervals

The filter cartridge must be replaced on reaching the capacity stated in Section 10. The filter
cartridge must be replaced on a regular basis and no later than 12 months after installation.
The filter must also be replaced after a shutdown period of 4 weeks or more.
5.5

Disposal

Dispose of exhausted filter cartridges, surplus parts and packaging in accordance with
the local regulations. If local collection points are available, take all product components
for recycling. This will help protect the environment.

6 Installing the filter

6.1

Water quality

The filter system may only be supplied with cold water that meets the legal requirements
for drinking water quality.
I
WARNING!
Hazard caused by improper use!
Improper use, e.g. using the filter to treat water other than that of drinking quality, poses
a health hazard if you were to drink said water.
6.2

Pressure

I
CAUTION!
The maximum nominal pressure must not exceed 8 bar. If it is higher, a pressure reducer
must be installed upstream of the filter system.
INFORMATION!
f DInstalling a pressure reducer can reduce the flow.
f For the filter system to function correctly, the intake pressure must not fall below 1.2 bar.
Pressure surges are to be avoided. If they do occur, the sum of pressure surge and idling
pressure must not exceed the nominal pressure of 8 bar. The positive pressure surge must
not exceed 2 bar and the negative pressure shock must not fall below 50% of the settling
flow pressure (see DIN 1988 Part 2.2.4).

Material selection

When selecting the material, remember that decarbonised water contains free carbonic acids.
To prevent corrosion, BWT recommends that no components made from copper, galvanised,
chromium-plated or nickel-plated materials are installed between the filter system and the
appliance.
6.4

Unpacking the filter

Take the filter out of the packaging and check it is complete and intact (no transport damage).
I
CAUTION!
f Faulty parts must be replaced immediately.
f Work cleanly
f Keep children away from the packaging material. There is a risk of suffocation!
Remove the plastic film and dispose with the plastic waste if this facility exists locally.
This will help protect the environment. Observe the local disposal regulations!
6.5

Fitting the filter bracket and filter head

6.5.1 Fitting the filter bracket

I
CAUTION!
f Prior to installation, observe the technical data and the operating and safety instructions.
f The appliance may only be connected using hoses in accordance with DVGW W 543.
f When installing accessories (hoses, connection sets), please note the installation
dimensions and bending radii.
Procedure:
1. To install the filter system, choose a location that enables simple connection to the water mains.
2. The filter system can be operated in a vertical or horizontal position (see Fig. 4).
3. The distance between the filter cartridge and the floor or the wall opposite should be a minimum
of 65 mm to allow adequate space for installing the filter cartridge (see Fig. 4A and 4B). When
installing the filter cartridge for horizontal operation, ensure that the filter cartridge is resting on
the floor. Distance of the bracket from the floor X (see Fig. 4 B) for horizontal installation:

4. During installation, align the wall bracket so that the filter head and the filter cartridge
can be inserted later with ease.
5. The filter system must be securely bolted to a wall using the filter bracket. Suitable mounting
surfaces include solid brick ≥ Mz 12 and concrete ≥ B 15. Remove the filter bracket from the
filter head and fasten to this surface using the following fixing material (not supplied as standard):
– 2 x Wooden hexagonal screws
DIN 571 – 5 x 50, steel
galvanised
– 2 x Washer
ISO 7089 – 5 – 200 HV
galvanised
– 2 x Nylon dowel Type:
S6 Fischer or equivalent
If an alternative surface is selected, the
system must be installed by a
specialist.
