1. THE PURPOSE OF THE OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE HANDBOOK
This Instructions Handbook is an integral part of the Machine and has the purpose of setting out the information required for :
•
The proper understanding of safety issued by machine operators;
•
Safely handling the machine, whether packed or unpacked;
•
The proper installation of the machine;
•
A thorough understanding of machine operation and its limitations;
•
The proper and safe functioning of the machine;
•
The proper and safe maintenance of the machine;
•
The proper and safe dismantling of the machine in compliance with current regulations, safeguarding the health of
workers and the safety of the workplace.
Managers of the company where the machine is installed shall ensure that installation shall comply with
the regulations of the country where the machine is to be operated and shall carefully read this Handbook
and ensure it is read by machine operators and maintenance personnel, wherever relevant to their
functions.
The time and effort dedicated to this task will be amply repaid by the proper and safe functioning of the
machine
This document presupposes that the plant in which the machine is installed complies with all the relevant safety and hygiene
regulations.
The instructions, drawings and documentation contained in this Handbook are of a technical nature and are confidential, are
the property of the manufacturer and may not be reproduced in any form, whether wholly or partially.
In addition, the client is responsible for ensuring that if the document in any way is amended by the manufacturer, only the
updated versions of the handbook will be kept where the machine is used and only these versions will be consulted in relation
to its operation and maintenance.
2. HOW TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS HANDBOOK
The handbook is divided into sections, each dedicated specifically to one type of worker (FITTER, MACHINE OPER ATOR AND
MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL) specifying the skills they require to carry out their jobs safely.
The Instructions Handbook comprises a cover, contents and a series of sections.
The front page sets out data identifying the machine and model, reviews the Instructions Handbook and, finally, shows a
photo/drawing of the machine described, in order to help the reader identify the machine and use the handbook.
The first page of the Contents includes a review table for the Instructions Handbook and its constituent parts, correlating the
review level of the entire handbook with the Contents and sections.
