5 Work Instructions and Safety Precautions

General
•
Trainees should only work with the circuits under the supervision of an instructor.
•
Electrical devices (e.g. power packs, compressors and hydraulic units) may only be operated in training
rooms that are equipped with residual current devices (RCD).
•
Observe the specifications included in the technical data for the individual components, and in
particular all safety instructions!
•
Malfunctions which might impair safety must not be generated when the device is operated for training
purposes.
•
Wear personal safety equipment (safety goggles, safety shoes) when working on circuits.
Mechanical system
•
Switch off the power supply.
– Switch off both the operating power and the control power before working on the circuit.
– Only reach into the setup when it is at a complete standstill.
– Be aware of potential overtravel times for the actuators.
•
Mount all of the components securely on the profile plate.
•
Risk of injury during troubleshooting.
•
Use a tool such as a screwdriver for actuating sensors.
•
Set all components up so that activation of switches and interrupters is not made difficult.
•
Follow the instructions about positioning the components.
Electrical Safety
• Risk of death when the PE conductor is interrupted!
– The PE conductor (yellow-green) must not be interrupted, either inside or outside of the device.
– The insulation of the protective conductor must never be damaged or removed.
•
Establishing and disconnecting electrical connections
– Electrical connections may only be established in the absence of voltage.
– Electrical connections may only be disconnected in the absence of voltage.
•
The power supply unit must only be operated using a power supply with a PE conductor.
