MOUNTING THE FIRST BEAD
1) Apply a liberal amount of manufacturer recommended rubber lubricant to tyre beads and rim well.
2) If the rim has been removed from the turntable, clamp it back on the table as previously described in the section on "CLAMPING THE
WHEEL".
3) Place the tyre on the rim and tilt it downwards to bring the horizontal arm back to a working position.
4) Depress the pedal (7, fig. E) to bring the arm (11, Fig. E) to its working position.
When moving the tool arm to its work position, do not place your hands on the rim.
There is always the risk of hands being crushed between the tool head and the rim.
5) Position the mount/demount tool (16, Fig. E) by hand against the edge of the rim. Lock the hexagonal arm (10, Fig. E) and swing arm
(11, Fig. E) as described under 5 of the demounting procedure.
IMPORTANT! If you are mounting a tyre previously demounted or on wheels with the same size rims, there is no need to use the
handle (9, Fig. E) every time to lock or unlock the swing and vertical arms. Simply tilt back the arm (11, Fig. E) and reposition it
with the pedal (7, Fig. E).
To prevent industrial accidents, keep hands and other parts of
the body as far from the tool arm as possible when the turntable
is turning.
6) Guide the tyre so that the lower bead is above the forward portion of the mount/demount
head (16, Fig. E : See Fig. L/5).
WARNING: If the tyre has a pressure sensor, start mounting with the valve placed at
7 o' clock in relation to the head.
7) Now depress the pedal (1, Fig. E) to begin clockwise rotation. Utilize the wheel's drop-centre area by pushing down on the sidewall nearly
opposite the head to reduce tensional force on the bead as the wheel rotates.
8) Insert the inner tube if the tyre has one.
MOUNTING THE SECOND BEAD
9) Place the valve at approximately 5 o'clock.
10) Repeat the steps from point 6 onwards for the upper bead of the tyre by pressing the tyre at the 3 o'clock position to move the bead
inside the well (see Fig. L/6), start turning and accompany it by keeping the side of the tyre pressed until it is fully mounted.
11) When mounting has been completed, depress the pedal (7, Fig. E) to bring the arm (11, Fig. E) to a non-working position.
12) Depress pedal (5, Fig. E) to release the wheel from the turntable.
N.B. Demounting and mounting are always done with the turntable rotating clock-
wise. Anticlockwise rotation is used only to correct operator errors or if the turntable
stalls.
