5. Safety rules

5.1 Basic information concerning safety

a) In addition to the information relevant to safety
given in each of the sections of these operating
instructions, the following points must be strictly
observed at all times.

5.2 Intended use

The tool is intended exclusively for indoor use. It is
suitable exclusively for the purpose of checking the
accuracy of the following Hilti laser tools featuring a
visible laser beam:
- PM 10 / PM 24 multidirectional lasers
- PML 32 line laser
- PMP 34 point laser
- PP 10 / PP 11 pipe lasers
- PR 10 / PR 15 / PR 16 / PR 20 / PR 25 rotating
lasers
- Plus Hilti visible-beam leveling and alignment lasers
from future product generations.
5.3 Misuse
a) Before operating the tool, check that it is complete
and standing or secured in a stable position.
b) The tool and its ancillary equipment may present
hazards when used incorrectly by untrained per-
sonnel or when used not as directed.
c) Have the tool repaired only at a Hilti service center.
d) To avoid the risk of injury, use only genuine Hilti
accessories and additional equipment.
e) Modification of the tool is not permissible.
f) Observe the information printed in the operating
instructions concerning operation, care and main-
tenance.
g) Do not render safety devices ineffective and do not
remove information and warning notices.
h) Keep laser tools out of reach of children.
i) Take the influences of the surrounding area into
account. Do not use the tool where there is a risk
of fire or explosion.

j) The PT 10 quick check device is to be used for
checking only the laser tools listed under "Intended
use". No other use is permissible.
5.4 Proper organization of the work area
a) Secure the working area and take care to ensure
that the surface of the bench or table is steady and
level when setting up the tool.
b) Ensure that the tool is set up on a steady, level
surface (not subject to vibration).
c) Do not set up the tool at a passageway or where
people frequently pass by (risk of tripping/falling
and injury).
d) Use the tool only within its specified limits.

5.5 Electromagnetic compatibility

a) Although the tool complies with the strict require-
ments of the applicable directives, Hilti cannot
entirely rule out the possibility of the tool being
subject to interference caused by powerful electro-
magnetic radiation, leading to incorrect operation.
Check the accuracy of the tool by taking measure-
ments by other means when working under such
conditions or if you are unsure. Likewise, Hilti
cannot rule out the possibility of interference with
other devices (e.g. aircraft navigation equipment).

5.6 General safety rules

a) Check the condition of the tool before use. If the
tool is found to be damaged, have it repaired at a
Hilti service center.
b) The tool must be checked at a Hilti service center
after it has been dropped or subjected to other
mechanical stresses.
5.6.1 Electrical
a) To avoid pollution of the environment, the tool
must be disposed of in accordance with the cur-
rently applicable national regulations. Consult the
manufacturer if you are unsure of how to proceed.
