To verify technical functionality, have the patient sit on a chair. If necessary, help the patient
unlock the orthotic knee joint so they can sit with the knee flexed.
► Take the calf in your hand and bring it slowly into the extended position.
→ If the anatomical limit in the knee joint is reached before the orthosis extension stop, then
the orthosis must be aligned with slightly more flexion.
The corrections for the standing position can be performed by bending the femoral support tubes.
1) Disassemble the axis of the orthotic knee joint.
→ The upper and lower parts are separated from each other.
2) Correct the fit in the sagittal plane in 2° increments.
INFORMATION: Corrections of 2° or 4° may result in significant differences in the fit.

5.2.3 Checking freedom of movement in the ankle

NOTICE
Improper settings
Loss of functionality due to damaged steel cable
Do not use the set screw of the steel cable on the ankle joint bottom part to adjust the lock.
1) Check the freedom of movement of the orthotic ankle joint.
INFORMATION: The orthotic ankle joint must have at least 5° mobility up to the dor
siflexion stop in order to ensure automatic unlocking of the orthotic knee joint.
2) Use the joint screw of the orthotic ankle joint to adjust the neutral position according to the
scale on the upper part of the foot stirrup (see fig. 11).
→ If the lock of the orthotic knee joint does not open at the end of the stance phase:
Adjust the foot stirrup in increments in plantar flexion.
→ If the lock of the orthotic knee joint opens in the mid-stance phase: Adjust the foot
stirrup in increments in dorsal extension.
3) INFORMATION: In a standing position, ensure that the orthotic ankle joint is not too
far in dorsal extension or plantar flexion, as this can result in unintentional unlocking
of the orthotic knee joint.
4) Optional: Bend the foot stirrup with insert with the help of the 711S4=3x3.5 bending iron.

5.3 Finishing the orthosis

CAUTION
Unallowable use of lubricants
Risk of injury and loss of functionality as well as damage to the product

>
1) Secure the joint screw of the orthotic ankle joint with Loctite 241 and tighten it (tightening
torque 14 Nm).
2) Secure the screws of the foot stirrup with Loctite 241 and tighten them (tightening
torque2.5 Nm).
3) Optional: Trim all hook-and-loop straps of the closure straps so sufficient material remains for
attaching the Y-hook-and-loop closure.
4) Attach the Y-hook-and-loop closure.
