SYSTEM START-UP
NOTE
Allow the Reader Unit to acclimatize for
approx. three hours at room temperature.
The Reader Unit (accessible part, classified
as application part type BF) is equipped with
a battery which, on a 100% charge, permits
independent operation without external power
supply for up to five hours. To that end, the
battery needs to be charged when first using
the device. The plug-in power unit is used
to charge the Reader Unit battery. It takes
approx. 6 hours for the battery to be com-
pletely charged. The Reader Unit can also be
operated during the charging process (with
connected plug-in power unit).
NOTE
Charging is not possible at an ambient tem-
perature of more than 35°C!
Connecting the power supply
WARNING
Incorrect accessories can damage the
Reader Unit and pose a safety risk to user
and patient!
Only use an original plug-in power unit for
•
the Reader Unit.
Mains voltage must correspond to the volt-
age range stated on the label of the Reader
Unit plug-in power unit.
Insert the connector of the plug-in power
•
unit into the socket of the Reader Unit.
Plug the plug-in power unit into a wall
•
power socket (control lamp of the plug-in
power unit must be on).
Inserting the SD card
NOTE
Improper use can damage the SD card!
Do not touch the contact strips on the SD
•
card
Insert the SD card designated for use with the
respective M.scio (see patient data card) into
the Reader Unit until it locks into place. SD

cards can be ordered from the manufacturer
if required.
Tap the SD card slightly to remove.
NOTE
The device may be damaged by the ingress
of liquids!
After removing the SD card, the SD card
•
slot connector must be inserted back into
the device.
FUNCTION CHECKS
Before use, check that the entire system
•
is in good condition and fully functional
and check the system settings, such as
the pressure unit (see the "Units" chap-
ter).
To check the battery status, perform a
•
function check without the plug-in power
unit.
Ensure that neither the device nor the
•
antenna used for the function test show
any visible signs of damage. Check the
function of the following components in
the given order:
1. Press the [On/Off] button.
2. Automatic self-test after switching on
including display and loudspeaker test
Check the battery status; if necessary,
•
plug in the Reader Unit plug-in power unit
and charge the battery.
