1.1 Introduction

This manual provides operation instructions and information required to maintain the S 52A tire changer. An optional
accessories section has been provided in Chapter 3 "Optional Accessories,".
The owner of the S 52A is solely responsible for enforcing safety procedures and arranging technical training. The S 52A
is to be operated only by a qualified, trained technician. Maintaining records of personnel trained is solely the responsi-
bility of the owner or management.
The S 52A is intended for mounting and demounting most medium and heavy-duty over the road truck tires. This manual
provides general instructions for common tire and wheel combinations. Specialty tire and wheel combinations may re-
quire procedures different than those provided in this manual.
"References"
This manual assumes that you are already familiar with the basics of tire identification and service. The first section pro-
vides the basic information to operate the S 52A. The following sections contain detailed information about equipment,
procedures, and maintenance. "Italics" are used to refer to specific parts of this manual that provide additional informa-
tion or explanation. For example, Refer to "2.1 Wheel Locking,". These references should be read for additional informa-
tion to the instructions being presented.
