1. GETTING STARTED

1.1 INTRODUCTION

1.1.a. PURPOSE OF THE MANUAL
The purpose of this manual is to provide the instructions necessary for optimum operation, use
and maintenance of your machine. If the machine is resold, provide this manual to the new owner.
Also ask the new owner to compile the transfer of ownership form module attached to the previ-
ous page of the manual and send it to the builder, to permit it to provide the new owner with all
necessary safety information. Alternatively, the new owner may notify to the builder of change of
ownership by email, writing to info@sice.it.
This manual presumes that the technician has a thorough understanding of rim and tyre identi-
fication and service. He/she must also have a thorough knowledge of the operation and safety
features of all associated tools (such as the rack, lift, or floor jack) being utilized, and have the
proper hand and power tools necessary to work in a safe manner.
The first section provides basic information concerning the safe operation of the S 1000 tyre changer
family. The following sections contain detailed information about equipment, procedures, and
maintenance. Italics is used to refer to specific parts of this manual that offer additional informa-
tion or clarifications.
These references should be read for additional information to the instructions being presented.
The owner of the tyre changer is solely responsible for enforcing safety procedures and arranging
technical training. The tyre changer is to be operated only by a qualified and trained technician.
Maintaining records of personnel trained is solely the responsibility of the owner or management.
The S 1000 family of tyre changers is designed and manufactured for mounting, demounting and
inflating tyres for light vehicles (passenger cars - not intended for use for trucks or motorcycles)
with a maximum external diameter of 47 inches and a maximum width of 16 inches.
Additional copies of this manual and the documentation enclosed with the machine can be re-
quested from the buider, specifying the machine type and serial number.
WARNING: The design details are subject to change. Some illustrations may be slightly different
than the machine in your possession.
