5 General/Patient-Specific Safety Instructions
5.1 General Safety Instructions
•
Check the pull-cable regularly for wear and tear, and the cable pull
switch housing for damage.
•
When mounted into a provisional socket, the cable pull switch may only
be worn by an amputee within an orthopaedic workshop or as an inpa
tient in a rehabilitation facility.
•
Please note that the cable travel of the cable pull switch is limited. To
prevent excessive strain on the cable pull switch, make sure the harness
is correctly fitted and accommodates the patient's movements.
•
The cable pull switch may only be loaded in the pulling direction.
•
When mounting a cable with cable housing, make sure there are no tight
angles. Avoid kinks. Make sure the cable runs smoothly.
•
The cable pull switch may not be used for bathing prostheses.
•
Instruct the patient in the proper handling of the cable pull switch
according to the section "Patient-Specific Safety Instructions".
5.2 Patient-Specific Safety Instructions
•
Do not increase your tension on the cable once you have felt the cable
come to a stop within the cable pull switch.
•
Handle the cable pull switch with care and regularly check the product
for damage (e.g. cracks or breakage) at the pull-cable or housing.
Should the cable pull switch be damaged or not function properly,
please send it immediately to your Ottobock service facility.
•
Driving vehicles of any kind or operating machinery is strictly prohibited
while wearing a provisional socket fitted with a cable pull switch.
•
Do not let foreign particles or liquids get into the cable pull switch. The
cable pull switch should not be subjected to intense smoke, dust, mech
anical vibrations, shocks or high temperatures.
•
The cable pull switch and damaged components may only be opened or
repaired by certified Ottobock Myo-Service technicians.
Regularly clean the cable pull switch with a cloth slightly dampened
•
with a soap solution. Do not allow moisture to enter into the cable pull
switch or into the contacts.
•
Since all moving parts are subject to wear and tear, annual service is
required.
