Principle of Operation

The battery tester briefly loads the battery under test
(~ 30 seconds) with a current of approx. 200 A. The voltage
of the battery is measured both under load and without load
in order to obtain the test results. These values are stored.
The charging condition is derived from the voltage of the
unloaded battery. The indicated value in % always refers to
the still available battery capacity - this may deviate consi-
derably from the nominal capacity, depending on the age
of the battery.
The calculated internal resistance of the battery is used for
assessment of the Starting capacity (indication in %).
The Statement about the general battery condition results
from evaluation of the Starting capacity.

Operation
1.
Connect the crocodile clips of the tester to the battery
terminals. Make sure that the polarity is correct and that
there is good contact.
2.
Set the display selector switch (9) to ,,A".
3.
The green LED (3) indicates that the battery is testab-
le.
4.
Set the current selector switch (10) to the cold test cur-
rent and capacity range which is closest to the battery
rating.
5.
Start the test sequence with pushbutton (8).
6.
The yellow LED (4) flashes to indicate that the test is
taking place.
7.
The yellow LED (5) lights up additionally for approx.
30 s; this indicates that the load has been switched on.
8.
The green LED (7) indicates that the test has been
completed.
It is now possible to poll the test results in any order
(,,A" to ,,D") with display selector switch (9) and to read
off the values on the corresponding scale on the instrument.
The test results are stored until the battery under test is
disconnected again.
A pause of at least 5 minutes must be allowed between a
battery test with load test and the following test.
