JUMP STARTING __________________________________________________________
Before attempting to "jump s tart" the mower , c heck the
condition of the discharged battery. Section 4.7
!
WARNING
Batteries gener ate explosive hy drogen gas. To reduc e
the chance of an ex plosion, avoid c reating sparks near
battery. Always connect the negative jumper cable to the
frame of the mower wit h the di scharged battery , away
from the battery.

CHARGING BATTERY _____________________________________________________

WARNING
Charge bat tery in a
generate explosive gases. To prevent an explosion, keep
any device that may create sparks or flames away from
the battery.
To prev ent inj ury, s tand away from battery
charger is turned on. A damaged battery could explode.
4.10 HYDRAULIC HOSES _______________________________________________________
!
WARNING
To prev ent s erious inj ury fr om hot, high pres sure oil,
never use your hands to check for oil leaks, use paper or
cardboard.

sufficient forc e to penetrate s kin. If flui d is injected into
the skin it must be surgically removed within a few hours
by a doc tor famil iar with thi s form of inj ury or gangrene
may result.

Always lower im plements to ground, di
drives, engage parking brake, stop engine, and remove
key before inspecting or disconnecting hydraulic lines or
hoses.
2.
Check visible hos es and tubes dai ly. Look for wet
hoses or oil s pots. Replace wor n or damaged hoses
and tubes before operating the machine.
3.
The replac ement tube or hos es mus t be routed in the
same p ath as the ex isting ho se, do not mov e clamps,
brackets, and ties to a new location.
4.
Thoroughly ins pect all tubes , hos es, and c onnections
every 250 hours.

When connecting jumper cables:
1.
Stop the engine on the vehicle with a good battery.
2.
Connect RED jumper cable to the pos itive (+) terminal
on the good battery and to the pos itive (+) terminal on
the "discharged" battery.
3.
Connect the BL ACK jumper c able fr om the negati ve
(-) terminal on the good battery
mower with the discharged battery.
After c ables hav e been c onnected, s tart the engine on the
vehicle with the good battery then start the mower.

Refer to Section 4.7. Read the Battery and Charger 's
manual for specific instructions.
2.
Whenever pos sible, remov e the battery
mower befor e charging. If battery is not s ealed, c heck
that the electrolyte covers the plates in all the cells.
3.
Make sure the charger is Off Then connect the charger
to the battery termi nals as specified in the c harger's
manual.
4.
Always turn the c harger Off before dis connecting
charger from the battery terminals.
IMPORTANT:
The
permanently

ends to keep impurities out of the system.

As y ou disconnect the component, be pr epared to
assemble plugs or caps to the hose ends and open
ports. This will keep impurities out of the hydraulic
system and also prevent oil spills.
c.
Make sure "O" rings are clean and hose fittings are
properly seated before tightening.
d.
Keep the hos e fr om twis ting. T wisted hos es can
cause couplers to loosen as the hose flexes during
operation resulting in oil leaks.
e.
Kinked or tw isted hos es c an res trict the oi l flow
causing the s ystem to malfunction and the oil to
overheat and also lead to hose failure.
