OPERATING SAFETY ______________________________________________________
EQUIPMENT OPERATED IMPROPERLY OR BY UNTRAINED PERSONNEL CAN BE DANGEROUS.
Familiarize yourself with the location and proper use of all controls. Inexperienced operators should receive
instruction from someone familiar with the equipment before being allowed to operate the machine.

equipment.

responsibility to ex plain the material contained in this
manual to them.

Learn the proper us e of the mac hine, th e loc ation and
purpose of al l the c ontrols and gauges before y ou
operate the
equipment. W orking w ith unfamil iar
equipment can lead to accidents.
4.
Never all ow anyone to operate or s ervice the mac hine
or i ts
attachments wi thout proper
instructions; or w hile under the influence of alcohol or
drugs.
5.
Wear all the necessary protective clothing and personal
safety devices to protec t your head, ey es, ears, hands,
and feet. Operate the mac hine only in day light or in
good artificial light.
6.
Evaluate the terr ain to deter mine what accessories and
attachments are needed to proper ly and s afely perform
the j ob. O nly us e ac cessories and att
approved by Jacobsen.
7.
Stay alert for hol es i n the terr ain and other hi dden
hazards.

Inspect the area where the

(sprinklers, pi pes, tree root s, etc .). Enter a new area

nor allow any one near the machine whil e in operation.
The owner/operator can prevent and is res ponsible for
injuries infli cted to thems elves, to by standers, and
damage to property.
10. Do not carry p assengers. Keep by standers and pet s a
safe distance away.
This machine is to be operated and maintained as specified in this manual and is intended for the professional
maintenance of specialized turf grasses. It is not intended for use on rough terrain or long grasses.

11. Never operate equip ment that i s not in per fect wor king
order or i s wi thout dec als, guards, s hields, di scharge
deflectors, or other pr otective devices securely fastened
in place.
12. Never disconnect or bypass any switch.
13. Do not c hange the engine gov
overspeed the engine.
14. Carbon m onoxide in the ex haust fumes c an be fat al
when inhaled. Never operate the eng ine without proper
ventilation or in an enclosed area.
15. Fuel is highly flammable; handle with care.
16. Keep the engine clean. Allow the engi ne to c ool before
storing and always remove the ignition key.
17. Disengage all driv es and engage p arking brak e befo re
starting the engine (motor) . Start the engine onl y when
sitting i n operator 's s eat, never whil e s tanding bes ide
the unit.
18. Equipment mus t c omply with the latest federal, state,
and l ocal requirement s when driven or transported on
public roads . W atch out for tr affic when c rossing or
operating on or near roads.
19. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator.
20. Operate the mac hine up and down the face of s lopes
(vertically), not across the face (horizontally).
21. To prevent tipping or loss of control, do not s tart or s top
suddenly on s lopes. Reduce speed when mak ing sharp
turns. Use caution when changing directions.
22. Always us e the s eat bel t when oper ating mowers
equipped with a Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS).
Never use a seat belt when operating mowers
without a ROPS.
Accessory

covered. This al lows for
machines with out p revious RO PS in stallations or
replacement of damaged structures.
23. Keep legs , arms, and body
compartment while the vehicle is in motion.
24. Disconnect battery and c ontroller elec trical c onnectors
before performing any welding on this mower.
