4.5 PREPARATIONS FOR COMBINED SEED/
FERTILIZER DISTRIBUTION (mod. SC)
The dosing devices for combined seed/fertilizer distribution have
double chambers (Fig. 416).
CAUTION! The fertilizer is distributed in the same furrow as
the seed: USE A SUITABLE PRODUCT.

4.5.1 COMBINED DISTRIBUTION HOPPER

The COMBINED distribution hopper is divided into two com-
partments (Fig. 417): the rear one (A) for the seeds and the front
one (B) for the fertilizer. The fertilizer compartment is also tted
with a grille to sift any foreign bodies and lumps that could damage
the dosing mechanism. Each compartment has its own controls for
the adjustment of seed and fertilizer distribution rates.

4.5.2 COMBINED DOSING

In combined distribution, fertilizer dosing is carried out through the
gearbox situated to the right of the machine (3, Fig. 302).
The speed of the fertilizer distributing units can be changed from
the gearbox by moving the adjustment lever that is calibrated
continuously on a scale from «0» to «50» (Fig. 418).
To set or change the gearbox pointer, loosen the knob (C, Fig. 418),
put the lever at the bottom of the scale «50» (1), then put it on «0»
(zero) (2) and then position it on the value found (3).
Lock it in position by tightening the knob.
We recommend carrying out a fertilizer dosing test following the
same procedure carried out for the seeds (chapter 4.5.5).

4.5.3 ADJUSTMENT OF THE BOTTON PLATE

The botton plate adjustment lever (Fig. 419) works on a scale
that is graduated from «0» to «7» positions. This lever must be
positioned according to the number given in the distribution table
for the type of fertilizer used.
Bear in mind that the values provided by the a.m. tables are
indicative only, because the quantity of even the same type
of fertilizer distributed may vary according to specifi c weight,
moisture content, fertilizer quality, and sizing, soil condition
(tilling, structure, gradients, etc.).
When the botton plate (B, Fig. 419) are correctly positioned they
ensure smooth and steady distribution of the fertilizer.
ATTENTION
If the lever is positioned beyond the maximum opening (>7),
the fertilizer will be discharge from the hopper.
For best distributing results, periodically check the position of the
feeler pins (B): the lever (Fig. 419) in position "0", adjust the di-
stance between the feeler and the distributor roller (A) by means
of the nut (D) to 0,5 ÷ 1 mm (Fig. 419).
