ADVANCED FEATURES
1. Delay Between Zones
The factory set delay between zones is three seconds. To change the
delay between zones for a program, press and hold the purple Run
Time button and then press and release the Next Program button.
The minutes portion of the time will blink on the LCD. Use gray
triangle
or
keys to change the delay between zones from 3-
180 seconds. Remember, the delay between zones is changed by
program, if you wish to change the delay for all programs, you will
have to repeat the above for each program (A, B, C and S).

3. Current Draw Check
To check or troubleshoot an installation, the SmartZone™ can give
you a reading of the current draw at each valve. To get this reading,
press and hold the reset button and then press the triangle
button, Release the reset button and continue to hold the triangle until
you see the display as illustrated below.
NOTE: The current draw value should be used as an indicator only. It

NOTE: A Nelson solenoid draws between 180-250 mAmps.
NOTE: The SmartZone™ controller will not operate a solenoid with
less than .09 mAmps current draw.
NOTE: If a system does not have a pump or master valve, there is
the potential for the valves to open and close during the current
check. If you do not wish this to happen, ensure that the water source
is turned off before running the current check.
4. Pump Disable by Program
SmartZone™ controllers are equipped to utilize a pump on every
program, provided a pump is installed. You have the option to disable
the pump on programs C and S. To do this, change switches 3 (for C)
or 2 (for S) to the "On" or "Up" position. Switches are in the upper left
corner inside the controller cabinet.
A and B programs can not be changed. If you have a pump installed,
programs A and B must be used with the pump.
If the pump is disabled for the S program, it will also be disabled in
the manual mode and test cycle. If the pump is disabled for program
C, it is disabled only when program C is running. The pump is also
disabled if there is an S program that requires the pump, scheduled
for the same time as a C program that does not require the pump. In
other words, C has priority over S and if they are running at the same
time, the settings for C will take precedence. The controller will run a
manual or test cycle if the pump is only disabled for C.
DATE
If S pump is disabled and A, B, or C need the pump, the pump will run
for those programs.
NOTE: If you are using drip or low volume products that require the
pump to be disabled, put those zones on program S to ensure that
the pump does not run on a manual or syringe cycle and possibly
damage the components.
5. Change Clock Display
The clock display can be changed from 12 hour (am/pm) to 24 hour
(military) format by changing switch number 1 to the "Off" or "Down"
position and then pressing the reset button found on the back of front
panel. Switches are found in the upper left corner of the cabinet.
When using 24 hour time, the month/day will also be reversed to
day/month when the date is displayed.
6. Change Run Time Display
Run times can be converted from the default hours:minutes format to
minutes:seconds format by changing switch number 4 to the "Off" or
"Down" position. This change will effect all run times for every
program. The minimum run time allowed is 15 seconds.
