GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Each multimeter in the ASYC II family equipped with the SX-ASYC2 interfacing kit
has an RS 232 type serial link used to:
! configure the multimeter
! read data measured by it
! adjust the multimeter without needing to disassemble the instrument.
This SX-ASYC2 kit comprises :
! the adapter isolating and formatting signals
! removable labels used to dedicate the adapter to the multimeter to which it is
associated
! a 3"½ program diskette containing drivers for users of the DOS LabWindows
and CVI LabWindows software (under Windows)
! the 25 / 9 pin adapter, allowing connection to any type of serial port

In case the computer does not provide sufficient power for the link (which
is the case for some portable computers, for instance) it is recommended
to use the power supply proposed as an option.

LINK CHARACTERISTICS

The characteristics of the serial link are:
Transmission speed
number of data bits
number of stop bits
parity
protocol
For the connector configuration, refer to Appendix I.
Input and output impedances, protection characteristics and signal levels comply
with the EIA RS 232C standard.
