Suction Lift Installations (Fig. 3)
- Ensure all valves etc on the discharge side of the
pump are open (cocks, valves, sprinkling sprays).
- Open the discharge valve (3),
- Open the suction valve (2)
- Unscrew the draining plug (5) on the pump cas-
ing.
- Put a funnel into the port and completely fill the
pump.
- Screw the plug back in.
- For ease of priming the discharge pipe should be
vertical for a minimum of 1 ¾ feet above the
pump
- Start the pump.
- Once the pump is fully primed close all discharge
valves and put the pump into normal operation.
Warning, do not operate the pump at a zero flow
condition for extended periods as this will cause
overheating and premature wearing of internal
components of the pump
CAUTION! Under some pump or installation op-
erating conditions (temperature of pumped liq-
uid, volume flow), the whole pump, including the
motor, may become very hot. There is a real risk
of burns from touching the pump.
8.4 Check of direction of rotation
- "Bump" the pump (briefly turn on/off) and ob-
serve the rotation of the motor.
- If the rotation is backwards (the direction is indi-
cated on the data plate), disconnect the power
supply and reverse any two of three power leads.
This will correct the rotation. Please check local
electrical codes as this procedure may require a
certified electrician.
NOTE: The single-phase motors are designed to
turn in the right direction in all cases. Check that
the current input does not exceed the value indi-
cated on the motor data plate

9. Maintenance - Service

All servicing should be performed by an author-
ized service representative!
WARNING! Electrical shock hazard!
Dangers caused by electrical energy must be ex-
cluded.
All electrical work must be performed after the
electrical supply has been switched off and se-
cured against unauthorized switching.
WARNING! Risk of scalding!
At high water temperatures and system pressure
close isolating valves before and after the pump.
First, allow pump to cool down.
WILO SE 09/2008
- For a prolonged shutdown, if there is no risk of
frost, it is best not to drain the pump.
- To avoid any damage to the pump end from
freezing, empty the pump end by removing the
plug (6) and filling plug (5). Once emptied, rein-
stall the plugs hand tight.
CAUTION! Possible damage of the pump!
Fill the pump before any next use.
