After fitting the parking sensors, refit all of the parts that were removed and do this in
accordance with the Repair Manual. Connect the vehicle battery and carry out all steps
relating to disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Check that the sensors function
correctly.
Important information on parking sensor faults
EN
If an obstacle is erratically displayed incorrectly, the sensors may be dirty or iced up. Clean the
sensors (do not use pressurised water).
If a special warning tone is emitted after the rear parking assistant is activated, one of the
sensors is switched off or damaged. This fault status is indicated by the number of short
beeps that follow the warning tone:
1 beep
2 beeps
3 beeps
To identify which of the corner sensors is defective (one beep), proceed as follows.
- Switch off one corner sensor and then activate the parking assistant.
- If you hear one beep, then the sensor that is switched off is defective.
- If you hear three beeps, then the switched off sensor is OK and the defective sensor is
connected to the control unit.
Warning
The system's ability to detect obstacles depends on the obstacle's material and shape.
The acoustic alarm when reversing does not relieve the driver of their liability for any
damage that may be caused when parking or carrying out similar driving manoeuvres.
Before reversing, you must therefore ensure that there are no small obstacles behind
the vehicle (e.g. rocks, narrow poles, trailer tow bars, etc.). This type of obstacle may lie
outside of the area that is monitored.
