2. Setting the cutting height

Place the mower on a firm level

surface. Stand behind the mower
so that you can place one foot on
the rollers (9) (Fig. L). Loosen the
two setting screws (10). You can
now use both hands to set the
cutting height with the setting
handles (11) (Fig. M).

Make sure that the cutting height
marking arrows (12) show the same
height on the scale on both sides.

3. How to cut properly

The hand mowers can cut grass
up to the following lengths:

If you want a well-looked after
lawn, the grass must always be
kept shorter.
At the beginning of the cutting
period, and with new lawns, select
a relatively high cutting height and
gradually reduce this each time you
mow the lawn. If you want to have
a well-manicured lawn, set the cut-
ting height to approx. 2 cm.

4. Resetting the blades

Before leaving our factory, the
blades of your new hand mower
were set optimally. If the cut be-
comes uneven after long use,
correct the bottom blade setting.
Slide the enclosed gauge (13) on
the left-hand side between a cutter
of the cutter roller and the bottom
blade.

Now tighten the setting screws (10).
The mower must be set so that
the bottom blade does not come
into contact with the ground
where there is any unevenness.

Shortest
cut Never use the mower near people,
especially children, or animals. The

Before using the mower, always
check the nuts, bolts and working
tools for wear or damage. Replace
worn or damaged blades in sets.
Cut the grass every week if pos-
sible. Frequent cutting forces the
growth into the cut stalk and makes
it resistant.
If possible, always cut the grass
when it is relatively dry. To obtain
a clear pattern, push the mower
in straight lines at an even walk-
ing pace. The cutting paths should
overlap by a few centimetres to
avoid leaving strips of grass.

Be careful ! The rotating blade
roller can cause injuries ! Always
keep the safety distance between

Use a 10 mm open-end spanner
to turn the hexagonal screw (14)
to the right until the gauge just
touches. Repeat this procedure on
the right-hand side of the mower.
Now rotate the cutter roller to
test this setting: it should not come
into contact with any of the cutters
on the bottom blade.
Always make sure you have a
clear view when using the mower.
When mowing, wear proper shoes
with non-slip gripping soles and
long trousers.
Before using the mower, check the
area you want to cut and remove
any stones, pieces of wood, wire
and similar objects. The blades can
catapult objects like this at great
speed.
If the blades or the mower hit any
solid object or obstruction, have
the mower examined by an expert.

Take extra care when mowing
on embankments and slopes :
make sure you are on firm ground
and always wear shoes with
non-slip gripping soles and long
trousers. Always mow across
a slope.
Take special care when moving
backwards and when pulling
the mower. Danger of stumbling !
Never place your hands or feet
on or underneath moving parts.
