5.4 Sample and manual valves position
On each program step: , the sample position must be changed and also the PTFE
manual valve. These changes are not automatic, they must be done manually.
At the end of each step a beep sounds and the display flashes.
Note: The device automatically changes phase. At the end of the «Boiling» phase,
it automatically goes to «Rinsing» and the same happens with «Solvent recovery».
This table, summarizes the sample positions and manual valves on each step:

5.5 Up / Down the sample into the column
Use the side knobs to move the sample up and down.
Place to the up position to:

Insert the sample (thimble) to the unit
•
Run «Rinsing» step.
Place to the down position to:
•
Remove the sample (Thimble).
•
Run «Boiling» step.
5.6 Mounting the extraction thimbles
Each extraction thimble must be mounted to a thimble-holder. It is made from a
magnetic steel which allows hanging it on the column magnet.
•
Clean the thimbles (if reused) with ether or some other degreassing solvent.
•
Insert each thimble to a holder. Be sure to well tight.
•
Use latex gloves to not add fat from your hands on the sample.
•
Store it on the rack.
Note: Along the process. Use gloves, pinces or tongs to not add fat from your hands
to the extraction thimbles.
