Please read the instructions fully
before use and comply with the
recommendations for full satisfaction
with this high quality product. LOOK
reserves its right to change product
specifications without notice.
Your frame is supplied with a pre-installed fork HSC and headset LOOK Head Fit. The height
adjuster putting the bearings under compression is factory-adjusted to provide optimal
operation and precision on first operation.
• In the event of headset adjustment, please follow the recommendations stated in paragraph «Headset
adjustment»
• When removing the headset, please follow the recommendations as stated in paragraph «Headset removal»
• When putting back the headset, please follow the recommendations stated in paragraph «Headset reassembly»
NOTE: As the height adjustment of the handlebar stem is separated from headset tightening and
fork assembly on its headset requires specific tools, it is strongly recommended to call upon a
LOOK approved service and repair retailer to ensure that the fork is correctly and fully removed
and re-assembled.
Please note that the fork shall be fitted to a wheel for all maintenance operations. Any abnormal
wear of the blades due to abrasion on the floor will not be covered under LOOK guarantee.
Caution: The forks are supplied pre-mounted on the frames with a pivot which length depends on
the size of each steerer. The remaining pivot length beyond the headset makes it possible to fit a
40mm handlebar stem, with spacers of 50mm maximum height and the specific 5mm thick LOOK
cone race. It may be necessary to cut pivot length if the spacers' height required to ensure your
safe position on the bicycle is below 50mm.
As pivot cutting is irreversible, we advise you to assemble your steering unit (without dismounting
the headset) with thickness adjusting races on top and bottom of the handlebar stem. In this
way, you can lower or raise the handlebar stem and adjust race positions. When the desired
stem height is correct (after several rides), then cut pivot length precisely to the desired height,
removing useless races at the top of the handlebar stem.
Important Note: we advise you fit the 5mm specific race (supplied with the frame + fork unit) to the
top of an handlebar stem with cylindrical tightening so that stem tightening on the fork pivot carbon
does not result in cracks (see Fig. b). By taking apart the top of the stem upper tightening pivot, the
risk of cracks to the pivot are considerably lower, especially in the event of overtightening beyond
the recommended tightening torque.
The carbon pivot tube requires the use of a suitable handlebar stem. Please follow the below
indications, otherwise the resistance of the carbon pivot may be seriously reduced.
·
Handlebar stems used shall not have sharp edges on tightening contact surfaces. The
presence of a fillet or chamfer is essential for correct use of the fork.
·
The tightening surface shall be larger than 10cm² for an handlebar stem with cylindrical
tightening.
