NURSING CARE

This chapter gives details of procedures for general nursing care.

Bathing the Patient

1. To facilitate bathing, press the InstaFlate button on the Home screen to access the InstaFlate screen.
2. Press the ON button on the InstaFlate screen to activate the InstaFlate function.
3. Bathe patient.
4. Wipe cover sheet clean while bathing patient.

After Bathing the Patient

1. Center the patient on the TheraKair Visio MRS.
2. If the InstaFlate function is still active, press the OFF button on the InstaFlate screen and exit the
screen to resume therapy at previous settings.

Skin Care

1. Keep the skin dry and clean.
2. Check patient skin regularly, particularly in areas where incontinence and drainage occur.

Incontinence / Drainage

1. The TheraKair Visio MRS Cover Sheet should always be placed over the mattress.
2. Breathable underpads are recommended for incontinent patients as plastic backed underpads will
block moisture vapor transmission and airflow from the mattress.
3. Watch for incontinence or drainage and provide meticulous skin care following each episode.
