3.4.1. TIG WELDING RECOMMENDATIONS.
We will have different tungsten electrode solutions depending on the application and its alloy percentage.

The range of currents of use for each of the electrode diameters and recommended current densities,
depending on the material to be welded, is given in the table below.

The shape of the electrode tip will directly affect the stability of the electric arc. The sharpening must be
between 1.5 and 2 times the electrode diameter. With a length of twice its diameter and being sharpened
lengthwise to facilitate the current transmission.
As a general rule, we will use Argon as a shielding gas as its low ionisation energy, which gives rise to easy
striking, very stable and low energy arcs, make it the ideal gas for small thicknesses.
3.4.2. WELDING EXECUTION.
The filler material must have the same nature as the weld
metal, verifying that it is humidity-free and selecting the
appropriate diameter in agreement with the thickness to be
welded. During the welding, we must maintain the end of the
rod within the action field of the protection gas, to prevent its
contamination.
In thicknesses of less than 3 mm and with the right edge
preparation, the weld metal is not always necessary.
