6. Disassembly
For hygienic reasons the use of gloves is recommended during disassembly and cleaning.
Pull away and remove the bottom cover. See T. Rinse out the contents of the collection
container. To clean thoroughly, the pump may now be disassembled as shown in Y - I.
Furthermore the piston ring and the O-ring mounted on each piston should be detached.
The valve diaphragms should not be removed.
7. Cleaning - disinfection - sterilisation
After disassembling the pump as described in section 6, the parts can be cleaned,
disinfected and sterilised as follows:
7.1. Manual washing
Wash the parts in hot water and detergent. Now rinse carefully and make sure that all
traces of detergent have been removed. Allow the parts to dry before reassembly.
7.2. Machine washing
The washing machine must be designed for handling medical instruments and anaesthesia
equipment. Use the washing programme and detergent normally employed for anaesthesia
equipment. Allow the parts to cool and dry completely before reassembly.
Note: The aluminium pedal should not be cleaned by a washing machine, since the detergent
will oxidize the surface.
7.3. Autoclaving
The parts are autoclavable at a temperature of 121 °C when autoclaved separately.
7.4. Boiling
Place the parts in boiling water and boil for 10 minutes. Allow cooling and drying before
reassembly.

7.5. Chemical disinfection

Disinfectants must be suitable for the materials used in pump manufacture (see section 3).
The supplier's instructions concerning mixing proportion and disinfecting time should be
closely adhered to. It is important to rinse all parts carefully in clean water so as to remove
all traces of disinfectant that might make parts sticky or reduce their service life. Allow the
parts to dry before reassembly.
7.6. Gas sterilisation
Gas sterilisation should not be applied. Polycarbonate surfaces may become sticky and
lock the valve diaphragms.
