Configuring the Mobile Panel
Required software
You require the following software to configure the device:
● WinCC (TIA Portal) as of V15 (Comfort/Advanced/Professional)
● Hardware Support Package "HSP0248 HMI Mobile Panel KTP700F HW"
Configuring the device (overview)
After the required software has been installed, the KTP700F Mobile HW/OR HMI device is located under the following folder
in the TIA catalog tree: "HMI > SIMATIC Mobile Panel"
Configuration is the same as the configuration of a failsafe Mobile Panel 2nd Generation with the exception of the functions
for operator controls that do not exist in the HMI device.
Note
Updating the operating system via an external storage medium
If you have integrated the HMI device into the TIA Portal via the corresponding HSP, you have to select the option "Images
from a different location" in the dialog "Select an OS image file" and select the file with the image of the operating system
from the file system.
You can find the HMI device image file in the WinCC installation directory under the following path:
"\Siemens\Automation\Portal V<TIA version>\Data\Hmi\Transfer\<HMI device image version>\Images\KTP_7_Mobile_HW".
Note
Updating the operating system via an external storage medium
If you have integrated the HMI device via the corresponding HSP into the TIA Portal, updating of the operating system via
the SD card is not supported.
Use the device function "Service & Commissioning > OS Update" only in combination with a USB stick.
Ensuring consistent values for operator controls
Introduction
The WinCC system functions can be used to evaluate the operator controls of the HMI device and to activate the LEDs of
the function keys and illuminated pushbuttons.
The states of the following controls are then transferred to the PLC via tags:
● Direction pulses of the handwheel
● The switching state of the function keys
● The switching state of the keyswitch
● The switching state of the illuminated pushbuttons

Ensuring data consistency
The direct assignment of an operator control tag to a process can lead to data inconsistency and malfunctions.
The tag values for an operator control must be consistent. You must make provisions for consistency when you configure
your project in WinCC.
Development of data inconsistency
The direct assignment of a tag with process connection to an operator control can lead to inconsistent values between the
operator control, HMI device, and the PLC:
1. The HMI device is connected to the connection box.
2. The HMI device starts.
