During Use

It is essential for safety to comply to the following rules during use:
- Only a restraint harness can be used in a fall restraint system to hold a body in
place.
- Ensure before every use that the work place provides sufficient space beneath
the user [to prevent a collision on the ground or on an obstruction].
- Check the fastening and/or adjustment parts regularly.
- Select the position of the stop mechanism and the way in which work is per-
formed so that free fall and the height of fall can be limited to a minimum.
- Lanyards must not be routed over sharp edges.
- Pendulum movements when falling must be prevented by selecting a suitable
stop point.
Attention!
Exposure to high temperatures or contact to hot objects might affect the
effectiveness of the fall protection harness.
Selecting a Stop Point
The stop mechanism [stop point] for personal protective equipment must withstand
a force of 10 kN in accordance with EN 795 and/or must be in compliance with the
requirements of the operating manual for the fall restraint system in use. The stop
point should always be above the user.
The connection between the restraint harness and the stop mechanism must be
suitable and tested for the relevant application in accordance with the standard
- Fall restraint system in accordance with EN 363 [e.g. fall cushioner in accord-
ance with EN 355, fall catching device in accordance with EN 353-1/2, height
restraint device in accordance with EN 360]
- Restraint system in accordance with EN 358 [e.g. lanyard in accordance with
EN 354 or EN 358]
