Spoiler Installation (Refer to Figure 3)
8. Trim along line on templates.
9. Place template on rear compartment lid with writing facing
up.
10. Position template to side edges of decklid and to the
tangent of the radii at the rear of the decklid.
11. Using masking tape, tape template in place.
12. Test fit the spoiler to ensure the holes will be in the right
position by placing the spoiler on the deck lid and making
sure the studs match the hole locations.
13. Center punch the 10 hole center locations on the surface of
the rear compartment lid, then remove template.
14. Using a 1/8" drill bit, drill pilot holes. Drill 4 pilot holes
through the inner panel also- see Figure 3. Then widen each
hole to 10mm. DO Not go through the inner panel with
10mm drill.

15. Open the decklid to drill inner holes.
16. Start with 2 outer 1/8" pilot holes. Use a hole saw to drill
these 2 holes 1" or 25mm diameter. DO NOT drill through
the outer panel. See Figure 4.
NOTE: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THESE HOLES ARE
DRILLED PERPENDICULAR TO THE SURFACE TO ENSURE
HOLE IS CORRECT. A ROUND HOLE IS CRITICAL FOR
PLUG TO SEAL TO PREVENT CORROSION.
17. Locate the two pilot holes on the inside center of the deck
lid.
18. If there are not already 1" access holes, open these holes
up to 1" or 25mm. DO NOT drill through outer panel.
19. Vacuum up all metal shavings from the drilling process and
deburr the holes.
20. Apply sealant to the exposed metal around the perim-
eter of all holes. GM 12371287 Synthetic lubricant with
teflon is recommended.
21. Install the 10 nuts onto the spoiler studs with approximately
5 Nm of torque.
22. Plug outboard 2 holes. See Figure 4. This is important to
prevent corrosion of the decklid.
