3. Product description

3.1. Design and operation

Bladder accumulators consist of a forged cylindrical pressure vessel (1), an elastic bladder (2) inside the vessel,
the gas port (3) and the anti-extrusions ring (4), which fits the fluid port assembly (5) to the pressure vessel.
Via the gas port (3), the bladder is filled with nitrogen to the required pre-charge pressure p0. It consists of the
valve cap (3.2), gas valve body (3.3), gas valve core, its seals (3.4) and the bladder attached gas valve stem
(3.6). The stem, i.e. bladder and the name plate (6) are fixed to the vessel with a retaining nut (3.5). The
protective cap (3.1) covers and protects the gas port (3) during transport and
operation.
A poppet valve (5.1) is located in the fluid port assembly (5) of the accumulator. During operation it is kept in
the open position by a pretensioned spring (5.2). Only during transport or when the bladder accumulator is fully
unloaded during operation the completely expanded bladder push the poppet into its seat. This prevents the
bubble from extruding into the fluid port housing
(5.3).
During operation, an increase of the system operating pressure causes an increase in volume on the fluid side of
the bladder accumulator and a proportional compression of the gas inside the bladder until pressure compensation
is achieved. The fluid volume thus absorbed and the pressure energy accumulated in the gas are available to the
system again at decreasing operating pressure and as a result of fluid displacement during gas expansion.
