CHARCOAL REFILL

The choice of the amount of charcoal depends on the food you want to cook and the size of the barbecue. The
charcoal tub must not be filled beyond the maximum allowed limit.

FIRST USE OF THE BARBECUE

Before using the barbecue for the first time, it is recommended to reheat it and keep it very hot, with the lid
closed for at least 30 minutes.

PREPARING THE BARBECUE FOR IGNITION

1) Remove the cover
2) Remove the cooking grate (the upper one) from the barbecue (6)
3) Remove the charcoal grate (the lower grate) (2) and remove the ashes or pieces of burnt charcoal from
the lower part of the brazier. Charcoal requires oxygen to burn, so make sure the vents are not blocked.
4) Open the brazier ventilation slit (5), moving the knob upwards by slightly rotating it to release the valve.
5) Replace the charcoal grill (the lower grill) (2).
NOTE: This guide does not specifically contain instructions for the use of combustible fluid, as this fluid dirties and can
transmit a taste of chemicals to food. If you decide to use a combustible fluid, follow the manufacturer's instructions and
NEVER add combustible fluid to a lit fire.
LIGHTING THE CHARCOAL
1) Build a charcoal pyramid in the center of the charcoal grate (lower grate) (2) and insert the lighter cubes
(sold separately) into the pyramid formed.
2) Light the cubes with a long match or a long barrel gas lighter. The firelighter cubes will ignite the charcoal.
3) Wait until the charcoal burns completely. Charcoal burns indoors when completely covered with a layer
of white ash.
NOTE: Before placing the food on the wire rack, make sure that the firelighter cubes are completely used up and that the
charcoal is completely covered with a layer of ash. Start cooking only when the fuel has formed a surface layer of ash.
Start cooking only when the fuel has formed a surface layer of ash.
4) When the charcoal burns completely, go to the following pages for instructions on how to arrange it and
start cooking according to your preferred method (direct or indirect cooking).
GRILLED COOKING METHODS
The Conogrill can be used with two different ways of cooking food: with direct and indirect heat.
COOKING WITH DIRECT HEAT
The direct cooking method, ie over high heat, involves cooking in which nothing stands between the fire and
the food, which therefore develop aromas, remain juicy inside while cooking up to the center.
With this cooking method, the heat reaches the food by both radiation and conduction: the heat radiated by
the charcoal quickly cooks the surface of the food closest to the charcoal, while the bars of the cooking grill
transmit the heat directly to the surface of the food, creating the unmistakable and appreciated signs of grilling.
Arrangement of charcoal for direct cooking
1. When using the charcoal barbecue, always use heat resistant barbecue gloves or mittens, which comply
with EN 407, contact heat resistance level 2 or higher.
NOTE: All parts of the barbecue, including the grill handle and lid handle, the draft valve and the vent grips, will be very
hot. Don't neglect to wear barbecue gloves or mittens to prevent burns to your hands.
2. When the charcoal is burning, distribute it evenly on the grill using tongs with long handles.
3. Replace the cooking grate (2).
4. Close the lid of the barbecue.
5. Preheat the grill for about 10-15 minutes.
6. After the cooking grate is preheated, clean it using a special brush with stainless steel bristles.
