Important Information About Your New Meter • Your new meter is designed for testing fresh whole blood samples (for example, blood from your fingertip or forearm). The meter is for outside the body (in vitro) use. It should not be used to diagnose diabetes. • This meter requires Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips. Other test strips will give inaccurate results. • Your new meter comes with a preset time and date. You may need to change the time to your time zone. • If you have followed the steps in the booklet, but still have symptoms that do not seem to match your test results – or if you have questions – talk to your healthcare professional.

The system is calibrated with venous blood containing various levels of glucose. The reference values are obtained using the hexokinase method. For method comparison, the results were compared with results obtained using the hexokinase method with deproteinization (automatic analyzer). The hexokinase method is traceable to an NIST standard. The Accu-Chek Performa system meets the EN ISO 15197 requirements. Measuring Principle Blood glucose concentrations may be measured in whole blood or plasma. Although you always apply whole blood to the test strip, your meter displays blood glucose results that relate to plasma.
