Construction
Electrical connection: The electrical connection is made
via a connector (see Type code on page 23).
Housing: Housing containing the processing electronics.
Target: Defines the position to be measured. Targets are
available in various models and must be ordered
separately (see Accessories on page 20).
Measuring length: Defines the travel/length range
available. Position measuring systems with the following
measuring lengths are available: 200, 300, 500 and
600 mm. Other measuring lengths in 100 mm increments
are available on request.

Function
To determine the position of a system component, a target
is connected to the component directly or indirectly
depending on the type and moved along the sensor. The
position of the system component is determined parallel to
the position monitoring of the target.
In the BIR inductive rapid positioning system there is a
transmitter/receiver sensor element, protected by an
extruded section made of aluminum and a very resistant
plastic (PBT).
The target contains a resonant circuit and is inductively
coupled to the BIR.
