3.7.4 PRESSION WHEELS
The coupling of front (1, 2, 3) and rear (1,2,3,4,5) prerss wheel
Fig. 25 of the equalizer depends on the seeding and soil type:
1) soft rubber wheel, for light, humid and sandy soil;
2) hard rubber wheel, for light, humid and sandy soil;
3) stainless steel flat type : for light and dry soils;
4) concave split rim type: for medium mixing soils and expecially
for sugar beet:
5) iron grid type: to avoid soil crust compaction.
SOIL SCRAPER WHEELS SEEDING UNIT
The soil scraper (A Fig. 26) must skim the wheels without blocking
their rotation. Adjustment is done with the nut (B ill. no. 28); take
away, or bring the soil scraper near to the wheel's surface,
allowing it to move freely. Once adjustment is ended, the soil
scraper must assure at the same time the cleanliness of the
surface and the rotation of the wheel itself.
3.7.5 FRONT SOD-BREAKER
The front sod-breaker (Fig. 27) is used to shift likely sods, clots,
residues, etc., from the seeding unit's operating area, thus
assuring seed-planting in the seedbed takes place properly.
Adjust the height of the sod-breaker according to the soil's degree
of preparation.
N.B.: When the interrow distance is less than 20 cm, using the
sod breaker could cause damage.
