3.8 SEED DISTRIBUTOR
A plate (Fig. 28), chosen according to the size of the seed (1 - Fig.
28), is installed inside the distributors (the seed should not be
able to enter the hole). Should suction cause some seeds to
clog the holes of the plate, these will be left on the ground.
The Manufacturer can supply the client with further sets of plates.
(see page 52).
SEED AGITATOR
The Manufacturer provides a (disassembled) seed agitator for
each distributor, as part of the standard supply (A, Fig. 29).
The agitator remixes the seeds inside the body of the distributor
in order to facilitate continuous, even seed distribution.
Only fit the seed agitator for the distribution of specific types of
seed or when distribution is uneven.
3.8.1 SELECTOR
SELECTOR ADJUSTMENT
When the indicator (B Fig. 29) is moved, it commands a cursor
(C Fig. 29), which slightly touches the plate near the holes, causing
the excess seeds to fall.
The selector is adjusted at each seed and plate change, towards
the lower numbers for small seeds (1 Fig. 29) and vice versa for
big seeds (2).
IMPORTANT: The selector does not adjust the air flow in the
distributor; replace the cursor (C, Fig. 29) when the seeding
configuration is changed (single or double row seeding).
MICRO-SELECTOR (Single Row - Strip Row - Double Row)
You will have the right adjustment when one seed only remains
sticked to the hole. If this does not happen, you have to adjust
also the micro selector (D - Fig. 30), which allows to reach a finer
seed selection. If the micro-selector obstructs the passage of
some types of seed, we advise you to disable it by pulling the
knob (E - fig. 30) until it hooks with the edge of the pointer (F Fig.
30).
If seeding is being carried out with a DR coulter (3, Fig. 22), two
micro-selectors shall be employed.
If the micro selector is not required, disable it to reduce
component wear.
Field adjustments and control
For a correct adjustment before starting, lift the planter on the
tractor 3-points hitch and then:
- Operate the PTO shaft at 540 r.p.m.
- Turn by hand , the wheel transmitting power to the gear
- Adjust the selectors and make sure, through the observation
window, that the plate carries just one seed per hole
- Check again, after a few meters in the furrows.
3.8.2 ANTI-OVERFLOW PLATE ADJUSTMENT
The anti-overflow plate (1 Fig. 31) can be adjusted to 5 positions
and defines the width of the seed inlet gap (2 Fig. 31), so that
these cannot flow out of the distributor due to excessive feeding.
Adjustment is par-ticularly needed when the ground slopes
steeply or when working with small seeds.
N.B.: Ensure that the knob (3, Fig. 31) has been well-tightened.
